How to Connect Apple CarPlay to your Mazda

Basic Requirements to Set-Up Apple CarPlay® 

An iPhone 5 or above 

Latest iOS version 

An Apple Lightning® to USB cable or a high-quality 

Siri®

Apple CarPlay® CONNECT Basic Requirements 

To use Apple CarPlay, you’ll need an iPhone 5 or above. 

Siri® must be enabled on your iPhone to use Apple CarPlay®. 

You’ll need an Apple Lightning® to USB cable or a high-quality, certified USB cable. 

For best performance, it’s always recommended that you update your iPhone to the latest iOS version.

Accessing Apple CarPlay® Using the Commander Control 

Once connected, press and HOLD the Home button on the Commander control 

Tilt the Commander knob forward to highlight the Apple CarPlay icon in the upper left-hand corner of the Mazda Connect™ home screen 

Press down on the knob to select the icon, or rotate the Commander knob to select “Applications,” then select “Apple CarPlay”

• Google Maps 
• Waze Navigation & Live Traffic 
• TomTom GO Navigation 
• Spotify 
• Audible 
• iHeart: Radio, Music, Podcasts

How to Connect Apple CarPlay to Mazda

Connecting your device to your Mazda3 CarPlay, Mazda CX-5 CarPlay, or other new Mazda model CarPlay technology is quite simple. Refer to the following steps and you’ll be ready to enjoy all the benefits of this integration on your Windermere commutes:

Plug your Apple Lightning to USB cable to the USB outlet marked by a smartphone icon

• Connect your phone via this cable
• The Mazda Connect™ will then detect your iPhone
• Follow the on-screen prompts to enable Apple CarPlay
• Tap “Allow” when the pop-up notification displays on your iPhone
• Your Mazda3 CarPlay technology, or other model, will now show the content from your phone on the display screen without you needing to unlock your phone
• Utilizing Your Mazda Command Center and Siri

A benefit of having your Apple CarPlay Mazda CX-5 or other model set up is that you can use the command center and/or Siri voice command technology to keep your eyes and attention on Leesburg roads. Use the Mazda3 CarPlay or other Mazda models’ command center like this:

1. Press and hold the Home button to switch between your Mazda CX-5 CarPlay or other model and Mazda Connect™ screens
2. Press the Home button to return to the Apple CarPlay home screen after navigating to other Apple CarPlay apps
3. Press the NAV button to access the Apple Maps screen with ease
4. When listening to music via an Apple CarPlay app, press the Entertainment button to quickly access the Now Playing screen

Your other option to use Apple CarPlay Mazda CX-5 technologies or other models is to use Siri Voice Commands for completely hands-free functionality. It’s so simple. Here’s how:

1. Press the “Talk” button right on your steering wheel to activate voice commands
2. Say your command
3. Or, on any Apple CarPlay screen, rotate the Commander knob to highlight the white Home button.
4. Then press and hold the knob to activate Siri
